What is RW2?

RW2 (Raw Version 2) files contain unprocessed sensor data from Panasonic Lumix cameras including GH series (GH5, GH6), S series (S1, S5), and G series. They preserve original 12-bit or 14-bit color information without in-camera JPEG processing, allowing full control over white balance, exposure, and color grading. RW2 files include embedded JPEG previews and extensive EXIF metadata including lens corrections and camera profiles.

RW2 is used by videographers and hybrid shooters using Panasonic Lumix cameras for video production, 4K/6K photo modes, commercial photography, and content creation. Panasonic's strong video features make RW2 popular among filmmakers who extract high-quality stills from video. Files are typically 15-35 MB depending on sensor size (Micro Four Thirds vs full-frame).

Did you know? RW2 format supports Panasonic's 6K/4K Photo burst shooting modes!
